Privacy Policy
1. Overview
SnapUtils ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website at snaputils.tools (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your information.
SnapUtils provides free, browser-based utility tools. Crucially, none of the tool inputs or outputs are ever sent to or stored on our servers. All tool processing happens entirely within your web browser. We do not collect or store the text you paste into the word counter, the JSON you format, the regex patterns you test, or any other tool data.
What we do collect is standard website analytics and advertising data — described in full below.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
We do not require registration, accounts, or any form of user input to use SnapUtils. We do not collect names, email addresses, passwords, or any personally identifying information directly from you unless you contact us voluntarily (see Section 12).
2.2 Automatically Collected Information
When you visit the Site, certain information is automatically collected by our servers, analytics provider, and advertising partners:
- Log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, date and time of visit, and HTTP response codes.
- Device information: Screen resolution, device type (mobile/desktop), and language settings.
- Usage data: Which tools and pages you visit, how long you spend on each page, and navigation patterns.
2.3 Analytics Identifiers
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand aggregate usage patterns. GA4 assigns a random analytics identifier stored in a cookie on your device. This identifier is pseudonymous — it does not directly identify you by name or email — but it can be used to distinguish returning visitors.
2.4 localStorage
Some tools store your last-used settings in your browser's localStorage to improve your experience (e.g., remembering your last regex flags or indent preference). This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party. You can clear it anytime via your browser's developer tools or site settings.
| Data Type | Collected By | Purpose | Stored Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tool input/output (JSON, text, regex, etc.) | No one | N/A — stays in browser only | Your browser only |
| Page views & navigation | Google Analytics 4 | Understanding site usage | Google servers |
| Ad impressions & clicks | Google AdSense | Displaying relevant ads | Google servers |
| Tool settings preferences | N/A (client-side only) | Saving your preferences | Your browser localStorage |
| Visitor identifier (anonymous UUID) | SnapUtils analytics beacon | Anonymous visit counting | Your browser localStorage |
